Optometrist in Cambodia?

Note to self....never leave home with a second pair of glasses (or contacts) ! The lens popped out of my eyeglasses which makes it most difficult to read or teach when you have less than 20/20 vision! Our hotel owner, Tina kindly sent me to an optometrist and I was praying that the shop would be open, the glasses would be easily fixed and they would not charge a high price. Thank-you God--that my glasses were easily repaired at no cost!

MOM= Mercer on Mission 2012
Mercer University has again brought medical, pharmacy, nursing and undergrad students to Cambodia to provide culturally appropriate medical care to the underserved in rural Cambodia. It has been exciting to get to know the students as well as faculty and hear how this experience has affected their lives, faith and the lives of those they serve.

The students enjoying Baby Ravi

Baby "Ravi" and the Newborn Exam

Meet Baby Ravi

Yesterday we were blessed to have Vina (my translator) bring her 9 week old baby to class so we could do a newborn examination. Although precious Ravi is really an infant now, we were able to show the students how to do a proper exam on a real baby ...not just simulating using a baby doll. Thank-you Vina!

Teaching in Cambodia: Care of the Neonate after delivery

This week, I will be teaching all about the neonate to the Cambodian Medical, Midwifery and Nursing students. They are most grateful for the participatory teaching. At the end of the week, we will present them with a completion certificate.
