A Flower in the Dust....in Cambodia

This is the season for weddings in Cambodia and today I attended my first Khmer wedding with a mixture of Christian and Buddhist customs. The couple was a medical resident and nurse who worked at Mercy Medical Center. The wedding was comprised of different ceremonies, music with traditional instruments and a wedding banquet. In the first ceremony (Christian), the bride wore a beautiful gown and tiara and the groom wore a tuxedo. They sported brightly colored costumes for the second ceremony (Buddhist) and  washed the feet of their parents. At the end, the couple was honored with gifts of money from the invited guests.
